Second Circular - 22nd PSSA Conference

Dear PSSA members, colleagues, and friends,
 
The end of 2023 is rapidly approaching and 2024 is the year for the PSSA gathering in Graaff -Reinet, Eastern Cape Province, so here is an update to facilitate your planning.

1. General Information 
The dates for the conference are 8-12 September 2024, so please diarise. We are trying to keep registration costs as low as possible and will finalise this in the new year. (We are currently working on about R2000 per delegate but this will be finalised next year. Registration for students, postdocs and technicians will be significantly less.)

2. Programme Members have requested the following sessions which we will try to accommodate:
 

• Ordovician – Devonian Palaeontology
• Karoo and related Palaeontology
• Bob Brain symposium on the hominin record
• Technicians’ session – interested participants to contact the co-ordinator Dr Sifelani Jirah ([email protected])

 
3. Call for titles
There will be an early call for preliminary talk titles to be submitted in March 2024. This will help us gauge the likely number of conference attendees and aid in planning of the various sessions. The abstract submission deadline will be in June 2024. More details to follow in the new year.
 
4. Accommodation
Attached is a list of accommodation options with prices. Delegates need to arrange their own accommodation. We recommend booking early as some of the venues have given us discounted pricing options that remain valid only until March 2024.
