Dear PSSA members, colleagues, and friends, The 22nd Conference of the Palaeontological Society of southern Africa (PSSA) will be held in Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape Province, a historic town with a long palaeontological history. In the PSSA tradition contributions on all aspects of palaeontology are encouraged, including a technician’s session. We are open to all suggestions. As this meeting is in the Karoo we are hoping to also attract many contributions on Karoo palaeontology and geology.
The meeting will take place from September 8-12, 2024. Please save this date. A one-day field trip will be undertaken to localities in the Endothiodon, Cistecephalus, Daptocephalus and Lystrosaurus declivis Assemblage Zones, including the P-T Boundary of the Karoo Supergroup. However, because of geographic proximity, there are possibilities for individuals wishing to organise outings to the Cape Supergroup or Kalkkop Crater. PSSA has booked the Tourism College as the main conference venue. Accommodation possibilities in the town include the Drostdy Hotel and numerous B&B establishments. A list will be sent in due course. The organising Committee is: Bruce Rubidge – [email protected] Miengah Abrahams - [email protected] Marc Van den Brandt - [email protected] Marina Rubidge – [email protected] Justin Arnols - [email protected] Early in 2024 the organizing committee will communicate more details, including abstract submission deadlines, room bookings, and costs of attendance. We greatly look forward to seeing you in Graaff-Reinet in September 2024. The town has a good reputation as an excellent conference venue. Sincerely, Bruce Rubidge
